I had the pleasure of having you compose music for two of my films, a short film and a feature film. As a first-time producer, I was completely clueless, but you were incredibly understanding and produced truly wonderful music. Without even having to explain, you understood everything about the film's theme, the message I wanted to convey, what I wanted to achieve in each scene, and the atmosphere I desired. Your perspective on the film was truly professional, and it gave me a sense of security. During our interactions, there were times when I made abstract requests like "I want the music to be more empathetic towards the characters" or "Try going overboard once." However, you flawlessly met every single one of these requests. I am truly grateful. The audience who watched the film also showered me with numerous compliments, saying, "The music was amazing!" I would love to work with you again in the future when I produce another film. Moreover, you also provided subtitles for the films. Your work in this aspect was incredibly fast and meticulous, and it was a great help. Thank you so much for your sincere, thorough, and precise work!
短編映画と長編映画、二作品の音楽を担当して頂きました。私自身初めてのプロデュース作品で右も左もわからない状態での依頼でしたが、とても親身になって頂き、本当に素晴らしい音楽を制作して頂きました。映画のテーマや、作品を通して伝えたいメッセージ、シーンごとにやりたいこと、出したい雰囲気など、説明しなくとも全て理解して頂いていて、映画の見方がプロフェッショナルな方で安心していました。また、やり取りする中で「もう少し登場人物に寄り添うような音楽にしてほしい」とか「一回やりすぎくらいにやってみてください」など抽象的な要望を出してしまうこともありましたが、全て完璧に応えてくださいました。本当に感謝しています。映画を観たお客様からは、「音楽がめちゃくちゃ良かったです！」と数多くのお言葉を頂いています。今後映画製作をする際は、是非また御一緒したいと思っています。あと、音楽だけでなく字幕も付けて頂きました。こちらの作業も本当に早くて丁寧で助かりました。誠実で、丁寧で、的確なお仕事を、本当にありがとうございました！！

Working with Rio for the first time was truly a remarkable experience. It was not only my first venture into filmmaking, but also a moment when the complexity of the process became evident. Thankfully, Rio's presence was a blessing during this challenging period. Although I met him relatively late in the production, I genuinely wish our paths had crossed much earlier. Rio is a remarkably composed and confident individual, despite his youthful demeanor. His ability to handle any situation thrown his way is truly admirable. It is a rarity to find someone so young, yet possessing such a calm and diverse mindset, combined with undeniable talent. Rio's original background work for my debut feature film, "Wasabi," was nothing short of extraordinary. Soon, everyone will witness the brilliance he has brought to the project upon its release. What sets Rio apart is his willingness to listen attentively and approach feedback with a positive mindset, no matter how challenging it may be. The results he delivers are consistently breathtaking. Although he remains a hidden gem for now, I am certain that his immense potential will be recognized by the world in due time. Rio is destined to become a renowned artist, and I sincerely wish him the very best. I hope to collaborate with him again in my future endeavors.

Director, "Fly Girl"
Rio was in charge of the music composition and English subtitle creation for the film "Fly Girl." The music production began in May 2022 and was completed in February 2023. I vaguely had an idea of incorporating field recordings into the music, but I didn't have a clear answer during the specific stages of development and often gave ambiguous responses to the samples. However, Rio provided guidance, assuring me that there would be a breakthrough somewhere. After about four months since the start, a few songs had a clear direction, but we were struggling to finalize the direction for the remaining songs. During one online meeting, I mentioned my favorite song, Rosso's "Melody of the Stars." That single statement led to the creation of a sample track, and I instantly felt that was it! We were able to complete the music within a month from that point. Even after the initial test screening, we made changes to the editing, and you graciously accepted modifications and additions to the music. The project reached its completion. You created music without rushing, yet with a sense of urgency, delivering music that could stand up to any challenge. And not to mention, the English subtitle creation was exceptional as well. That is Sato Rio, a musician and subtitle creator.
映画『フライガール』の音楽・英語字幕制作を担当していただきました。音楽制作がスタートしたのが2022年の5月だったと記憶しています。そして完成したのが2023年の2月でした。フィールドレコーディングを音楽に取り入れるというなんとなくのイメージはあるけど具体にしていく段階で明確な答えを持っておらずサンプルに対してもどこか曖昧な返事をしていた私でしたが、きっとどこかに突破口がありますよ、という寄り添い方をしてくれました。スタートしてから４ヶ月ほど経ち全体のうち数曲は方向性が決まっていたが残りの数曲の方針が中々煮詰まっていなかった時のあるオンラインミーティングの際に「Rossoの「星のメロディ」が好きなんですよね」という一言からサンプル曲があがってきて、それ！ってなりました。そこからは１ヶ月ほどで完成しました。初号試写を経て編集も変えましたが、曲の修正・追加も快く了承いただき完成しました。焦ることなく、それでいてスピード感もある、そして勝負できる音楽を作ってくれました。英語字幕制作、言うに及ばず。それが佐藤リオという音楽家、字幕制作者です。

At the desired timing, we were fortunate to meet, drawn in by Rio’s passionate enthusiasm and personality. We mainly collaborated on English subtitles and exchanges related to overseas film festivals. Regarding the English subtitles, for the film that focused on the theme of happoshu, even in regions without a happoshu culture, you added exquisite nuances that surpassed our imagination, presenting new interpretations through the English subtitles. Thanks to your work, we successfully made it into international film festivals! We look forward to working with you again on our next project!
欲しているタイミングで運良く出会い、アツい想いと人柄に惹かれ、英語字幕と海外の映画祭関連のやり取りを主にやっていただきました。英語字幕に関しては、発泡酒がテーマの映画作品だったのですが、海外に発泡酒の文化が無い中、絶妙なニュアンスを加えて頂き、こちらの想像を超えた表現、英語字幕で新しい解釈を提示してくれました。無事、海外の映画祭にも通りました！次回作も宜しくお願い致します！

I requested the creation of English subtitles for my independently produced short film, '(UN)HAPPY DAYS.' Due to the tight schedule for submission to international film festivals, I sought advice on the process and found it very easy to work collaboratively. The work delivered to me included meticulous annotations, capturing subtle nuances and allowing us to refine the subtitles effectively. The final product earned a nomination at BSFFF (Brooklyn Sci-Fi Film Festival), and I am truly grateful for the support!
自主制作した短編映画「（ふ）しあわせな毎日」の英語字幕制作をお願いしました。海外映画祭出品の為、タイトなスケジュールだったのですが、進め方含めて相談させて頂きながら進めていけたので、とてもやりやすかったです。一度作業してもらったものに丁寧な注釈がついており、微妙なニュアンスまで拾っていただいて固めていけたのがとても良かったです。仕上がった作品は、BSFFF（ブルックリンサイファイフィルムフェスティバル）にノミネートされました。とても感謝しています！！
